1. What are the concepts of the Bionic Tower and Little Cities Projects? (1 pt)

The Bionic Tower project has been developed by a group of architects, engineers and biologists proposed to change the city as it is known today, assuming the conquest of space and surpassing the 500 meters high in a city that aims to attain the 1228 meters high. This project seeks to make use of bio-technology in order to adapt to the environment, culture and human needs and planning of cities.

The Small Cities Project aims to make a change in lifestyle of the cities taking a position diametrically opposed to skyscrapers. The basic concepts is handled in the development of small cities adapted to the human scale, and thus are more accessible and attractive, in addition to the guidance of pedestrians and traffic light systems, the variety of urban programs and especially to emphasize in the "green" in architecture friendly to the environment.

5.jpgBionic Tower is based on strength, flexibility and adaptation of biological structures. It is inspired by the scientific analysis of the structural changes produced in the plant because "nature did it first and did it better", and the tower height is adapted according to need, capacity and usage.

3. What are the concepts of the Bionic Tower and Little Cities Projects? (1 pt)


overpopulation.jpgBoth projects come from the need for a halt to urban problems facing cities today, such as overpopulation and all the problems this entails, and the impact on the environment every day becomes more and more violent. Both projects propose the reorganization of cities, but taking positions strongly opposed to each other.Bionic Tower proposes a skyscraper in which bio-technology blends with the architecture and engineering in a highly ambitious project that reduces the size of cities, leaving more space for the care of the environment, on the other small towns propose a horizontal spatial organization in the different uses to organize and integrate urban green spaces for the preservation of micro climates.




4. Are there actual examples of these projects? If so, mention them. (1 pt.)

Currently there are some small cities in China such as, porosity Sliced Block, Vanke Center and Linked Hybrid.


5 Explain the vertical and horizontal circulation for one of these projects (1.5 pts.)

In small cities the movement is substantially horizontal, as on sidewalks, roads and bridges, which togethes with the vertical sirculation located at key points and made up of stair, lifts and ramps, organized spaces and connects all the public spaces creating private spaces favorable intercation.

6 What do you think of these projects? (1.5 pts.)

I personally do not like the solution proposed bionic tower. That people should live to 500 meters high and unreasonable to me a little uncomfortable. But I applaud the use of biotechnology to combat pollution. On the other hand the small town’s project seems wonderful and comfortable in adapting to the human scale. Make a mixture of the best of master’s projects; perhaps add to the small towns of bio-technology.
